Saturday pre-poll voting in St Helier No1 and No2 by-elections? Innovations in Jersey democracy

There will be no more excuses for potential voters that they cannot make it to vote during the week. Saturday pre-poll voting is under active consideration by the Judicial Greffe for the by elections in Districts No1 and No2 St Helier.

Pre-polling usually occurs the week before the election day and up to Noon on the Monday in advance of the Wednesday election. Confirmed dates for pre polling at St Paul’s Gate Dumaresq Street are:

·         Monday February 26^th to Friday 28^th February, 9am to 4pm.

·         Monday 3^rd March, 9am to 2pm

The Judicial Greffe have confirmed that they are actively considering Saturday Pre Poll voting on 1^st March from 9am to 4pm. 

This is tremendous news and will greatly increase participation in these St Helier Districts where turnout is historically low.
